Prague Winter and Christmas Tour
Daily itinerary
Day 1: WELCOME TO PRAGUE
We’ll meet at our hotel in beautiful Prague at 4.00 pm for the welcome meeting. We’ll discuss the tour details, logistics and all your questions. Then we will set out for an orientation walk of the Prague city centre and get acquainted over a dinner together in a nice local restaurant.
Day 2: MAJESTIC PRAGUE CASTLE
Today after breakfast we’ll explore the majestic Prague castle with the wonderful gothic cathedral of St. Vitus, the romanesque St. George`s Basilica, the Old Royal Palace and the Golden Lane. We will also enjoy amazing panoramic city views from the Hradčany square. Your afternoon will be free. We’ll regroup in the evening and enjoy a lovely dinner cruise after dark on board of a boat with live jazz music. The light up city is just amazing!
Day 3: ČESKÝ KRUMLOV UNESCO
Today we’ll hop on a bus and head south to visit the charming town of Český Krumlov, which is a UNESCO heritage site. The well preserved rennaisance old town, meandering Vltava river and the large castle complex above it all make it one of the most important historical towns in the Czech Republic. We’ll spend the first part of the day walking the medieval streets and castle courtyards, we`ll take a brewery tour and have a traditional Czech lunch. Your afternoon will be free to explore the wonderful local Xmas market, small galleries and local shops. In the evening we’ll return to Prague.
Day 4: JEWISH QUARTER AND VELVET REVOLUTION
We’ll continue exploring Prague today. Our steps will lead us to the former Jewish quarter. We’ll visit several medieval synagogues as well as the old cemetery. After a break at the Christmas market and local snacks tastings we’ll dedicate the second part of the tour to modern day history. We’ll discuss the communist history, the Soviet occupation of 1968 and the Velvet Revolution of 1989. The rest of your day will be free. You can visit some additional museums or just relax and soak in the festive atmosphere.
Day 5: DRESDEN – PEARL ON THE ELBE
Today after breakfast we’ll hop on a bus and take a 1,5 hour ride to Dresden. We’ll drop off our luggage in a lovely centrally located hotel and go for a tour of Dresden Altstadt. The famous Frauenkirche, Zwinger, Opera house, Christmas market at the Altmarkt, Albertina, Residenzschloss, Brühlsche Terasse with the Elbe view and other sites. There’s so much to see! The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore on your own. We’ll regroup in the evening and enjoy a fun cooking class.
Day 6: NELAHOZEVES CHATEAUX AND WINE TASTING
After a relaxed morning we’ll take a bus and drive back to the Czech Republic. We’ll visit an amazing rennaisance chateaux Nelahozeves owned by the House of Lobkowicz. We’ll take a tour of the well preserved interiors with original furnishing and art pieces. After the castle tour we’ll enjoy wine tasting from the Lobkowicz Estate. We’ll finish our Nelahozeves visit with a hearty lunch and continue to Prague. The rest of your afternoon and evening in Prague will be free.
Day 7: PŘEROV NAD LABEM FOLKLORE MUSEUM
After the breakfast we’ll hop on a bus and go outside Prague. We’ll visit a wonderful outdoor folklore museum, where we will admire original architecture, furniture, costumes and a special exhibit about local Christmas traditions. There are also many different workshops where you can make your own souvenir. We’ll be back in Prague after lunch and your afternoon is free. We’ll get together later in the evening to enjoy a great farewell dinner together.
Day 8: TOUR OVER AFTER BREAKFAST
Breakfast is included and your guide will be available to help you with an airport ride or your post tour plans. There are no activities planned for this day.
